The Character of our Heavenly Father (Part 2 of 3)
A Message Given at Irvine First Presbyterian Church
In this second teaching in a series of three given at Irvine Presbyterian Church, Bob Fry talks about “The Character of Our Heavenly Father.” He tackles the Parable of the Prodigal Son with fresh insight – pulling from his own experiences with his father. In a time when few of us have noteworthy stories of our fathers, Bob’s are particularly inspiring. Like the father in the parable, Bob invites us to choose obedience over control. He highlights the lavish love of our heavenly Father – who ignores the past to pursue a relationship with us in the present. Bob ends his message with footage and commentary of himself, at 18 years old, and a group of friends piloting a homemade glider. The old movie reel footage provides a perfect metaphor of how obedience leads to freedom and joy.
