Ian leads the work of the National Christian Foundation, California in the Central Coast and Bay Area. He brings nearly three decades of experience in pastoral and ministry leadership to the NCF team. For him, this work represents a deepening of his call to encourage hearts transformed and lives enlarged by the generous gift of God’s grace.
Ian has long been committed to a vision of discipleship that not only shapes every aspect of our lives, but that also invites us to actively engage God’s promise to make all things new. He is eager to join with others, similarly committed to grow in generosity, not as an end in itself, but as an occasion to boldly hazard the faith, humility, and courage that make life with God such a grand adventure.
His creative and entrepreneurial spirit has also led him to help start a number of ventures over the years, including 1951 Coffee in Berkeley staffed almost entirely by recently relocated refugees, Redemptive Real Estate to encourage collaboration among Christian real estate professionals, Sycamore Equity that aims to address housing affordability for ministry and non-profit leaders at scale, and most recently, LegacyLab, an experience to help families step into the bigger story God has for them through generosity.
This same appetite for adventure has marked much of Ian’s life with his family, as well. He met his wife Mindy, while they were both wilderness guides in Colorado, he in the mountains and she on the rivers. Now in Santa Barbara, Ian and Mindy are glad for a new season, walking alongside their three young adult children as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of life post-college.
